I'm pretty sure it should be able to give a higher 'blast' height before the smoke drifts backward.Īs to sound, the sounds used in the S&C pack by trw1089 are quite good when working hard, however they are british prototype, and these have a slightly 'higher' note to the beat. Take a look at the 'big' smoke effect container on the Y6B (the one with the most settings in it is the 'steam' effect), and mess around with the settings from this in the loco you wish to use it on. Personally, I would create a more 'white' effect, and allow it to drift back a little more. However, unless you are confident with scripting, you would have that black smoke, at about that effect, permanently. It's working hard, but not as hard as it sounds IMOĪs to recreating it in Trainz, you would first need to find/create an appropriate smoke texture (I personally would avoid the default 'black' smoke texture here). If the fire were not putting out a lot of smoke, you wouldn't really see much there, based off the lack of steam (white) in the air behind the loco. Either due to a fairly 'cold' fire (likely due to having too much fuel on the fire), or due to the loco sucking the fuel through the boiler before it has fully burnt (quite likely in this case). in the video the loco is working extremely hard).Īs a note, the colour you are seeing in the video is actually indicating a fairly inefficient fire (even with oil burners, which I'm guessing that loco is, black smoke means an inefficient fire).
However, it would not vary according to the 'output' of the loco (E.g. It may be possible to recreate that specific smoke effect at low speeds (with a script implementing a more appropriate effect at higher speeds).
